Westgate River Ranch & River Ranch RV Park – Rt 60, River Ranch, FL
This is actually 2 campgrounds in one place. The Westgate resort has all the amenities, but the campground is just a field and some trees with water and electric, but no sewer. The campground is right near the bath house and skeet shooting and a short walk to the Rodeo, etc.
The RV Park is a completely separate entity and sites are reserved separately. The sites here are beautiful with full hook-ups, trees, and generally fire pits. Some even have picnic tables, chairs, and swings. You also have access to all the amenities of the resort. But you are in the back of the park and need transportation to the attractions.
We were here in January and it was a record low temperature weekend. It was so cold, we didn’t even go to the Rodeo on Saturday night. We sat around the fire with layers of clothing, jackets, and blankets. But, we never really care about things being what they are supposed to be. It really was a terrific weekend!!
- POPULATION: In January, not a lot of people in the wide open campground. In fact, after the first night, half of the tent campers left because it was so cold. We were here in October running away from Hurricane Matthew in the RV park in the back and it was still very empty. Of course, with a hurricane in the vicinity, no one was tent camping.
- CLEANLINESS: Bathhouses in both areas are very clean.
- SITES: Sites in the Ranch up front are mostly dirt. In the rain they become mud. They do have some nice big Oak trees. Sites in the RV Park are beautiful, cemented rock, level, and pretty. They are each privately owned and put into the rental pool. Most have big beautiful trees and fire pits with built-in seating and swings. Really nice!
- AMENITIES: 2 Pools & spas, Rodeo on Saturday nights, Kids activities (wall climbing, zipline, etc.), General Store, Western Store, Restaurant, Saloon, and Airboat rides.
