Salt Springs, FL
A really pretty place with a beautiful big spring. However, since it’s in the middle of the state, the locals don’t have a coastal beach, so this is where they ALL go. A really busy place. The spring is quite far from the campground, so you either need to drive over or bring bicycle.
- POPULATION: In May, not crowded at all. Springs were still really too cold to enjoy for our Floridian blood. Only a few brave souls actually went in the water.
- CLEANLINESS: Bath houses were clean, until a very large group of tent campers got through with them.
- SITES: Neat & clean with paved pads, rock around septic, clean newer tables, and fire pits, also a pole to keep things away from the bears. Some nice trees, but no separation between sites.
- AMENITIES: Really pretty, clear swimming spring, small boat launch. Small produce stand and gas station nearby. Otherwise, there is nothing for at least 30 minutes or more away. No cell service at all. Had to drive for 30 minutes to get a cell signal.
