Disney Fort Wilderness

Kissimmee, FL

Well, it’s Disney.  Everything is perfect and happy and controlled, and pricey!  We’ve brought the grandkids and our niece here a couple times and they LOVE it!  But, do yourself a favor and rent a golf cart, if you don’t have your own to bring.  This place is big and, even if you do have a tow vehicle, you don’t want to have to drive everywhere as getting around is much easier in a golf cart. The first time we went, we had not reserved a golf cart in advance and there were none left when we arrived.  The second time, I was not going to make that mistake again.  The park has a large pool with waterslide, a couple of restaurants (don’t waste your money), general store, and best of all, you can take a boat ride over to the Contemporary where you can get on the monorail.  We are actually going back without the kids (woo hoo!) and will take the bus to Epcot so we can enjoy some adult beverages without driving back. 🙂

  • POPULATION:  Full most of the time
  • CLEANLINESS:  Very clean bathhouse, generally one per 2 loops.  Each site is cleaned after every guest.
  • SITES:  The sites have a fair amount of vegetation between them and some are shadier than others.  They are all fairly level and clean and most have full hookups.  When booking, a premium site is not necessarily in a different loop, it’s just a nicer site.  It might be wider or have more surrounding vegetation or trees.
  • AMENITIES:  There is a large pool with large slide, several playgrounds, a dog park, a couple of restaurants (expensive), a carriage ride (fee), hay rides (fee), pony rides (fee), boat rentals (fee), a beach (no swimming), and boat transportation to magic kingdom and the contemporary resort (free).  You can get the monorail at the contemporary and visit other hotels, as well. It’s a really nice park, but a bit artifical, after all, it’s Disney.
