OMG I drove the trailer!

Okay, technically, I drove the truck that was pulling the trailer. But, this was my first time and it was exhilarating! (Don’t I look serious?)  Hubby injured his ankle and wasn’t able to drive. So, it was either we stay home or I drive and, of course, I wasn’t staying home. So, I drove from our driveway to the campground, backed it into the site, then drove home at the end of the weekend. It really wasn’t as bad as I imagined. You just make wide turns, start braking early, and keep an eye on your side mirrors to see where the trailer is and make sure it clears everything that is should. Backing into the site wasn’t that bad either. If you take your time and see how the trailer reacts, you can make adjustments as necessary. Just remember to go slow and make sure you’re keeping an eye on both sides of the trailer, while also monitoring where the truck is and what is nearby. This campground was not far from our house, so it was a great drive for my first time. I really would have no problem driving again. There’s a great feeling of accomplishment in doing something outside of your comfort zone and it’s good to know that, if necessary, I can always take over driving and give hubby a break!
