I am, by nature, a researcher. If we are planning a vacation, I will spend weeks researching before we ever pack the first sock. I want to find the best flights at the best rates, the perfect hotel in the perfect location and the best prices. I will even plan every activity on every day – something that drives my hubby crazy! When you only go away once or twice a year, everything needs to be absolutely perfect, right? Well, I brought the same zeal to camping. We bought the camper right before Christmas, but had to wait 3 weeks to pick it up (what agony!). During that time, I scoured the internet to find every little accessory we would need (visit “The Stuff” page) and read every article on RVing to make sure we were ready. But, that wasn’t enough. Our first trip was, you guessed it, in the driveway. We spent the weekend in the camper in the driveway just to make sure we were ready before we went out to the wilderness. Mind you, we’d already scheduled our first real trip to a very nice RV resort.
But that first weekend was great! We felt like we were on vacation and yet literally 6 feet from our garage door. I enjoyed just being in the camper. Of course, I couldn’t wait to actually GO camping. That would be our next trip!
